Artist’s
Statement
I love
traveling this incredibly beautiful country
of ours and meeting the equally beautiful people
that helped make it what it is. I
hope my photos express the deep feelings they
both inspire in me. I call this series
of photographs “American Pictures.”
Stephen J. Weiner
A
native of Brooklyn, NY, Stephen Weiner
pursued a successful career in his Manhattan
studio as a freelance fashion photographer
from 1971 - 1996, counting among his many
clients Glamour, Modern Bride, Cosmopolitan,
Maidenform, and the famous advertising
agency, J. Walter Thompson. He also
enjoyed doing portraits, including songstress
Roberta Flack, fashion designer Betsy Johnson,
rock legend Paul Simon, and legendary impresario
of the Metropolitan Opera, Rudolph Bing,
as well as magazine and book covers.
In
1996, desiring a career change, Stephen became
a commodities broker while still continuing
his photography - but now in a new direction:
landscapes and portraiture, sometimes described
as soft-edged, romantic, and even mystical. This
artist views nature through fresh eyes.
In
1999 Stephen moved to South Florida and became
involved with the art community. His photography
has been displayed in numerous juried exhibitions
including a national touring show of “The
American Woman.” More recently, his work
has been represented in the 64th Annual National
Exhibition of Contemporary American Paintings
and Photography at the Society of the Four
Arts in Palm Beach, Florida, and a one-man
showing at the Pate Gallery in Vero Beach.
