Roslynd
Messinger
Roslynd Messinger is an award winning abstract
expressionist painter. A native New Yorker,
she now lives and has her studio in South Florida.
Her early inventiveness with color and texture
led to a successful career as a fashion and
textile designer, with her creations featured
in national publications. Her education in fine
art at Parsons in New York prompted the
notable Avron Soyer, her mentor, to describe
Roslynd as an illusionary artist.
Her sensitive expressive style communicates
her humanistic ideals.
A professional member of Boca Museum Artist
Guild, Broward Art Guild and Florida Artists,
she has exhibited in museums, libraries and
colleges, in addition to the prestigious Hortt
Competition at the Carone Gallery. Roslynds
work has recently been enthusiastically critiqued
by chief curator Bonnie Clearwater of The Museum
Of Contemporary Art. The past president of the
Miami Art League calls Roslynds small
paintings small gems.
Artists Statement
As an artist I perceive the world in all its
variety and contradictions: its beauty, its
struggles. My art is my medium for expressing
my perceptions and reactions. I see the landscape
of the world as abstract in shadow, form, line,
and color. Images of what is not there are as
important as what is. It is the mystery, the
surprise, the unexpected discovery in my paintings
that challenges the viewer to search for the
elements that complete the
story in each work.
