Jorge
Mogrovejo Calle, one of the Ecuadorian
artist best known for his robust oneiric
forms and surreal atmosphere has taught
drawing, painting and ceramics at the University of
Azuay and at the Academy of Arts at the
University of Cuenca in Ecuador.
He is not
only a member of La Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana
and its subsidiary in New Jersey, but also
of the Ecuadorian-Brazilian Center and the
cultural groups Ahora, Cunanmanta,
Guapdondelic and ARA.
Mogrovejo
was an official member in the jury for the Paris
Painting Award held in Quito in 1998,
and a member in the Organizing Committee
of the VI Bienal Internacional de Pintura,
in Cuenca, 1998. Art curator in the
Department of Culture in the municipality
of Cuenca.
As a result
of his intense cultural activity, Mogrovejo
has received different decorations by the National
Congress of Ecuador, Ecuadorian House of Culture,
Government of Guayas, and the Azogues National
Union of Educators in Ecuador.
The artist
has had 36 solo exhibitions and 38 exhibitions
sharing with other painters in his country.
