Artist's Statement
My style of art work is geometric abstract
image with representation. I paint with acrylic
colors in simple patterns of flat shapes
and layers of
paint with hard brush and palette knive on
wood panels. I make my own panels (mostly
in 2'x3' - 4'x4'
sizes) with
1/8" thick
sheet of plywood, reinforced by 1"x1
1/2 pine wood strips along the edges
and down the center for strength.
Memories from past experiences and Commercial
Art have help me to make the transition to
Fine Art. My themes are usually of figures
and faces of people that have a intriguing
and mysterious feeling to me - especially
in the abstract form. I would get an emotional
feeling of excitement that would leave me
very anxious to start
my
next painting rigt away. I get great pleasure
and satisfaction designing with lines,
shapes and colors into abstract subject
matter. I manipulate the elements and principles
of design, using simple basic geometric
shapes to create my composition
and exploit the interaction of positive
and negative shapes and colors to achieve
a composition of equilibrium and movement.
