Gil
Barroso
Gil Barroso was born in Cuba and raised in New
York City. His interest in photography started
at an early age by using the instamatic camera
to take pictures of family members.
His interest expanded by attending the Maine
Photography Workshop in 1982, where he studied
with Kate Carter. In the 1990s he furthered
his education by attending Miami Dade Community
College, majoring in Photography. During that
time he studied with Marice Cohen, a staff photographer
for the Miami Herald. Also in the 1990s,
Gil studied with John Sexton, a landscape photographer.
Gils passion for travel has taken him
to Mexico and Provence, France, where he is
currently studying with photographer artist
Elizabeth Opalenik. He was selected in 2003
by Miami Dade Community College to exhibit his
work at the Tower Theatre in Miami, Florida.
He is currently working with Polaroid manipulation.
