Gil Barroso

Gil Barroso was born in Cuba and raised in New York City. His interest in photography started at an early age by using the instamatic camera to take pictures of family members.
His interest expanded by attending the Maine Photography Workshop in 1982, where he studied with Kate Carter. In the 1990’s he furthered his education by attending Miami Dade Community College, majoring in Photography. During that time he studied with Marice Cohen, a staff photographer for the Miami Herald. Also in the 1990’s, Gil studied with John Sexton, a landscape photographer.

Gil’s passion for travel has taken him to Mexico and Provence, France, where he is currently studying with photographer artist Elizabeth Opalenik. He was selected in 2003 by Miami Dade Community College to exhibit his work at the Tower Theatre in Miami, Florida.
He is currently working with Polaroid manipulation.
