David Martinez de Armas


David is an surrealist or how he describes his work "surrealismo magico" he possess the ability to capture the light thought the use of colors, and the combinations of subconscious forms in his painting, is unique.

David Martinez De Armas was born in Havana Cuba, June 26, 1961. Studied painting at the Academy of Fine arts San Alejandro in La Havana, and later at the School of Design in Havana in 1981. David had his first one-artist exhibition in 1987 at "10 de Octubre" Gallery in Havana. Prior to his first one-man show his work has been shown in numerous projects such as design of mural at "El Asia" Restaurant in Veradero, remodeled mural of the "El Taighlon" at the Riviera Hotel in Havana, "Floridita" Restaurant , the Touristic Center of Rio Cristal, the Cultural Society SEMPI, in Havana, and the mural over the old Havana Aqueduct, just to mention of few. David also worked as Stage Designer for television and films in Havana, Cuba. In 1984 participated in the Second Biennial in Havana, won second placed in the Art Contest, sponsored by the Cultural Ministry in Havana,Cuba. His work has been seen in many solo and group shows in Mexico,Spain,Venezuela and in Miami where he presently lives.
